Important Dates for the November 6, 2018 Uniform Election

First Day to Apply for Ballot by Mail

Monday, January 1, 2018*  

*First day to file does not move because of New Year’s Day holiday.  An “Annual ABBM” or FPCA for a January or February 2018 election may be filed earlier, but not earlier than the 60th day before the date of the January or February election.
Last Day to Register to Vote

Tuesday, October 9, 2018*

*First business day after Columbus Day

First Day of Early Voting by Personal Appearance Monday, October 22, 2018

Ballot by Mail Information

To be eligible to vote early by mail in Texas, you must:

  • be 65 years or older;
  • be disabled;
  • be out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance; or
  • be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.
Applications for ballots by mail must be received by no later than the close of business on 
Friday, October 26, 2018.

(An Application for Ballot by Mail (ABBM), including an Annual ABBM, may be submitted by mail via the U.S. postal service, by common or contract carrier (such as UPS, DHL, UPS, or a local courier service), in person by the voter themselves (before early voting in person begins), by fax, or by email. However, please note that if an ABBM is faxed or emailed to the EV Clerk, it must be followed up by the original within 4 business days.)
