Public Information Release

The Cooke County Sheriff’s office has recently received several complaints from citizens who have received a phone call from an individual claiming to be a deputy with the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office.  The individual is alleging that the citizen has a warrant and asks for or demands money to clear the warrant.

The individual is a scammer and is spoofing the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office phone number, (940) 665-3471.

The Cooke County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call a citizen and ask for or demand money to clear a warrant.

If a citizen receives a phone call about a warrant, they should ask the person for their name, hang up, and then call the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office to get further information.

Anyone who has a concern about this scam or has given any form of payment (credit card, gift cards, cash, etc.) is asked to call the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office at 940-665-3471, extension #4.
